Commodore Fuel Consumption

Hi Guys,
Found this site by chance.
I run a 2000 VTII Acclaim Ecotech 3.8V6, dual fuel, I averaged 550+km around town (60-65litre fill) for every tank of unleaded before I had the LPG system installed, with a best of 670km for just over 3/4 tank when cruising around Tasmania on holidays a few years ago.
on LPG I get around 480-500km for around 72-74 litres of LPG, again around town, with a best of 545km when I did an airport run.
I don't drive like there's an egg under the accelerator pedal, and I generally drive in an eager fashion.
My wife runs a 1997 VS II Equipe, but she doesn't quite get the same economy as she doesn't drive far enough to allow the car to warm up properly, but when she does, she returns slightly better economy as her car runs the same engine but is a little lighter.
One day when I get my VS Commodore V8 powered UC Sunbird running, I'll share the fuel consumption figures too.

You shuld be able to get 12.5 around town, but on a highway you shuld b able to get it down to 10.5 Per 100km

I have a VE SSV 06 model, and local driving i am getting 16 to 18lt to 100k's. Havent tested highway driving yet.

What are some of the ideas people have to bring this down?

It really depends how you drive around town. Stop start driving, racing from one set of lights to another etc can all be cause to bring fuel economy down.

I get 14.5l/100k when I drive 'gently' around town.(approx 450k/tank)
I get 20l+/100k when I 'play' (320 l/tank)and
I get as low as 9.6l/100k (approx 700l/tank)on interstate trips.
Generally I seem to be around 16.5l/100k.

I get almost exactly the same.

if u drive hard, you will literally pay for it, I stopped driving like a hoon just for that :|

Once going 100km in 6th gear for appoximatly 30ks got 6.8l per 100ks.

I have a extractors tune exhaust and oTR with maf

I had a range of 780ks per tank once. Not bad for a 6l V8, I find on long trips kicks ass over my old v6.

Are you kidding me, an Ecotec V6 can't even get near 400km in a tank. Around town.

Pretty decent for a V8.

You must be a lead foot or something is crook I get 600 plus around town on regular unleaded with my V6 not just on some tanks but every time.:driving:

i'm a little worried.... half the posters in this thread have been banned :whistling

My SS, with the wife driving most days, and me driving a few times during the week gets about 12.1/100, that's a mix of highway and driving around town. Around town, it gets about 14/100, on the highway alone, driving relatively sedately, it gets 10/100 :thumbsup:

in the V-Series Omega i had, i drove from here to the Gold Coast (about 10 hours drive) chock-a-block with luggage and 5 adults in the car and averaged 8.9/100 for the trip.
