gearbox hiting!! very annoying!

Hello guy's, I hav a vs manual ute with a T5 gearbox and if you give it in first and second the gear stick and obviously gear box (but idk I'm only assuming because the gear stick is moving left) all move's to the left and then when you get off throttle hard (to quick shift) it smack's the **** out of the bump where the gearbox is stationed.. i hope that make's sense but if it does not feel free to ask me whatever you need to know

i would really like to know what is doing this and how i can fix it. thanks again

New engine and trans mounts could be the go. The tailshaft centre bearing and diff backlash may be other causes of a clunking noise.

can i replace the mount's without taking the whole engine and gearbox out?

Yes, the gearbox mount is easy so do that first. The engine mounts are a little more challenging though. If you do a search on here, you'll find heaps of results.
