Hi folks,
I want to thank everyone that's helped us maintain our 362,000 K 2001 VX Acclaim Commodore over the last 9 years and I doubt I could have done that without your help.
On the 3rd of July 2020 I retired our 2001 VX Acclaim Commodore and it's now resting in pieces at the Emerald Qld wreckers.
Before taking it to the wreckers I removed the tow bar, strut bar and the stereo and to my surprise they even gave me $150.
Even though she'd done the high ks not once had it ever broken down on any of our getaways towing the camper and I still could have hopped in and had not issues with driving to the Queensland border.
We recently downsized and decided the Commodore had done it's job well as a Bull Terriers limousine and camper trailer hauler and we now have 2 cars a 2004 180,000 K Ford Falcon 4.0L RTV trayback and a 2004 83,000 K Subaru Outback 2.5L
Well that's all for now, goodbye, stay safe and good luck.
Fred and Mary.

Hi Fred

Whats happening with the old Austin you were going to customise?
I thought you were going to put the vx running gear into it?

Did you ever get around to putting in the hoist?

Anyway good luck for the future.

Why wreckers instead of selling it ?

That was exactly my first thought after reading the post
Considering the amount of work and new parts that had been replaced on it over time
It would have been a bloody good buy to use as a rolling shell, or a great parts car at a bare minimum for somebody

That was a good looking VX.

I'm quite fond of the VX myself
The missus and I also had a VX Series II Acclaim.......Was a bloody brilliant car that was trouble free during the time we owned it

VY SII SEDAN
So sad my vy has 345k on it.
Never dream of getting rid of it.
Spent more on it than paid for it.
Only time let me down when key battery went flat.
Happy motoring.

Shame to wreck it. It was just getting into its stride!
Mines a spring chiken. Only 332000k's...
