for those contemplating..
tried the Utube methods ..toothpaste fail ....baking soda white vinegar..fail
the sand paper method worked , 800, 1000, 2000 grit with water , buff with rubbing compound using drill wool buff pad , polish with car wax , 1 hour for each light .
I use brasso with a pad on a drill. Cheap and effective. Maybe use a few times if bad.

It’s the shizz! Sand back in progressive passes of finer grit. 3000 last of you can find it. Then polish with Maguiars Plastic polish. Use a medium, then soft foam cone on a drill. If you have a DA polisher, even better. Then coat with the above to stop them yellowing.

Doing a plastic polish on a deteriorated un prepped surface is like cleaning the bathroom mirror with a pair of suss looking undies that have a skiddie in them.

Hey guys, for a brilliant finish (and just 30 secs work) use Acetone and paper towel. You can sand them first if you like but seriously the finish will be just as good without it.
The process is simple
Clean headlights (optional)
Pour Acetone liberally onto paper towel
With a single smooth motion lightly wipe across headlight
Done.
The hardest part is maintaining even pressure and speed, not too hard. You be the judge.
The job was done on 15 April 2020
