I wanted to upgrade the headlights on my VZ but the monaro ones dont fit and the HSV are $770.00 a pair, thought of maybe missing out on the looks and just change the globes to halogen for a whiter brighter light, anyone got any suggestions?

Thanks Mate, I'll try e-bay, hadnt thought about Berlina or Calais lights.
Yep, its an exec, $19k purchase and another $2500 on lsuspension and wheels, wanted to keep is stock but oh lordy I cant help myself. Last ride was a VK Calais, 5 Litre with leather, have to say I'm impressed with even the basic model these days tho.
Cheers and Happy New Year.

if you are thinking about Calais lights then my suggestion is to save your money. On my Calais, and to me, they do not look any brighter/whiter than the exec. Only noticable difference to me is that there is a rainbow around the edges of the beam.

Thanks Troy, think I'll wait for a set of HSV lights to come up on e-bay and in the meantime just put in some Phillips globes for more light. Can you tell me what the diff is with the SV6 lights, is it a different light system or is it just the same globes and some flat black paint? The Calais seems to be different again? I know the HSV have a totally different set up, much like the Monaro lights, am I right?

Hi.

If you can get a set of "projector" lamps (VZ SS, Berlina, Calais, not sure could be S as well...) you can do a mod where original H9 hi-beam globes, replace the originals in the H11 sockets.

This results in a "brighter" light, reportedly - I have not done this myself.

see here....

low beam upgrade

Hope this helps..
