1999 Holden Commodore VT II Executive
Hi,

I have been having issue with my 1999 Holden Commodore VT II Executive (Duel Fuel) for some times.
The car engine has been stalling for some time intermittently. Here is the scenario,

The car used to cut off occasionally. I thought it was LPG issue, so I took it to the LPG tuning place.
After tuning the LPG system, the car was fine. But since last 3 weeks, the car started to stall both in LPG and Petrol.
I took it to mechanic. They thought it was DFI fault, but could not find any issue. However, the scan tool showed Vacuum leak.
They didn't take it seriously.

After bringing the car from mechanic, I found the the idle was rough, especially in LPG.
I took it to another mechanic, who tried to find vacuum leak but didn't get one.
However, he flushed the coolant system and fine tune the idling. The car look smoother than before.

Then on the way to home the car again stalled. I drove back to the mechanic fix the issue.
He replaced the DFI module and told me to test if the car stall anymore.
However, even after hanging the DFI module the car stalled.

Now, my question to the expert, what could be the problem of this car?
I am kind of overwhelmed. Please give me some direction!

Did you run the car on Petrol ? Any problems? Or is it just the LPG problem? CAS could be on the way out...

Yes I drove the car in Petrol as well. It is staling both in Petrol and LPG.
After reading the forum, it looks like issues with CAS won't allow the car to start right away.
Some of the scenarios described that they had to wait to engine become cooler or using water to make engine cooler.

In my case, the car start right away. I face no problem starting the car.
Could that be still CAS issue?

vx II Executive
check the usual suspects
purge hose under the throttle body
Three lines at the back of plenum
The intake pipe from Airbox to throttle body
Any cracks/splits will suck air in and affect the air/fuel ratio
You need to remove the plastic engine cover to see them all properly
Start the car and listen for air sucking in

only run on petrol till it is sorted ..to difficult trying to find out the problem if its fuel/gas related at the same time

get the engine running on fuel without the stall and you are almost sorted

my thoughts

if you run on gas a lot more then fuel you would check the fuel filter pump or relay

my next thought is electrical

how many keys are on the key ring ..... is it swinging

next
any fault codes

need more info
does car stall
when braking/slowing down
when stopped at traffic lights
or cruising at 60km/h
does it just shut off as if you turned the key or does it start stumbling first
what is the idle rpm normally
how is the state of maintenance ie all plugs, leads, filters changed regularly

Yes I am driving in petrol and it happened in petrol too.
My key ring is little heavy and swinging. Could that trigger that problem?
When I left the car in LPG place, they could not reproduce the problem as they had only car key not the whole bunch.
I'll test it with the only car key and will see if it stalls or not.

Error codes are as follows:

0002 Slip ring failure
0007 PCM data lost
0008 PCM vehicle speed data unstable
0017 Serial data bus fault
0092 Low speed fan no BCM response
0076 s/term fuel trim delta hig

Is any of them are serious?

Thanks.

The car stalls both in running and idle time.
Once was cruising in 80/kmh and it felt like the engine was going to die, the engine warning light blinked for a moment.
I accelerated some more and it looked like the engine revived from the failure.

It shut off as if I turned off the key. No stumbling before the failure.

Idle RPM was around 500-600.
In LPG it was bouncing back and forth. The mechanic told me that the cooling system had some dirt.
He flushed it and adjusted the something. After that it looks better.

Plug and leads were done around 12k before. It was done by the LPG place, where I tuned the LPG.
Filter, lube changed regularly, last time it was done around 4 k before.

drive only on petrol and put in fuel injector cleaner ,give it around a week to clean the lines and injectors.also look into egr,and maybe do a computer reset either battery,or press and hold up and down arrow turn car accessors on wait for reset to display then release buttons and press mode, to accept reset
