on the passenger exhaust bank from a VT motor there is a pipe running to the intake manifold and also has a plug for the wiring harness to go in.
Do I need this and what is it for.. Have transplanted this to a VS commodore and there is no plug for it on the existing harness...
I have got no idea..... your help is appreciated

It's the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) valve. VS didn't have it, so get rid of it. You will need to plug up the hole in the intake manifold or just swap the manifold over with a VS one. You will also need to use a VS exhaust manifold. The other option is just leave it all there, it won't do anything if it's not wired up anyway.
