Toyota lexcen is a commodore.
Toyota bought the run-out stock and rebadged them

haha... that is funny!

Holden built them because Toyota wanted them to... (under the car agreement that was in place)

Oh really? And I bet Holden started selling their own rebadged version of the Corolla? Impossible.

Google this - Button car plan.

.. ever heard of a Holden NOVA or Holden APOLLO?
They look remarkably like Toyotas I have seen for sale the same time they came out :p

Was never a secret lol.

Do you think Holden/GM themselves made every nut, bolt and part for that car?

Pretty much only the actual sheet metal is stamped at the factory, everything else comes in from other suppliers that make parts for various OEM's or GM plants.

Like how Monroe made the shocks, ROH made a lot of the wheels, Bosch made the electronics etc, If the manufacturer such as Holden needed the tooling to create every single piece of a car, your family sedan would cost $900,000.

Vehicle manufacturers bolt parts together, they don't R&D every piece of the car lol.

Having spent time at the Holden plant in SA it's amazing how many pallet loads of parts from various manufacturers come off of trucks every single minute of the day, it's a constantly funnel of parts coming in from 3rd party suppliers to build them (glass, trim, wheels, brakes, etc)

As part of the Button Automotive plan, not only there was model sharing of badge engineered cars (e.g. Commodore/Lexcen, Pintara/Corsair etc), some minor components were also shared to keep costs down.

Rear vision mirrors, interior dome lamps and seat frames etc were shared between different Australia brands.
