Gee. I guess the engineers never considered that????
You can hold your hand near the exhaust and not get burned. Why? Because there's an air gap. The fins on the oil cooler dissipate heat, not soak it in.

Probably not optimal location but I would question the efficacy of an oil cooler that size anyway...

Hi

I think it is in a good location as it is much lower than the top of the engine and lower than the exhaust manifold, and as we all know hot air rises that dissipates from these major heat producing items.

The oil cooler looks to be an optimal size when you take into account the size of other "heat sinks" that are used in other applications.
