Did mine 2 days ago googled it first. Have to push the plug towards the filter. Press clips then pull. Worked a treat first go. Second one was a little resistant but pulled away without problems.

its very easy, firstly buy the tool (its not expensive) its just a piece of round plastic that you slip over the line and push it under the clips to realease them, it works like a charm, any good auto shop sells the tool, i tried to use a screw driver before hand and nearly damaged the clips, hope this info helps.

Hi there +++++ You can buy the tool in a three pack from Bursons or Repco. They come in three different colours to indicate the different sizes. 3/8 1/4 and 1 inch. They cost $21.00 for the 3 pack.

The red tool is the one you use for VT commodore fuel connectors. The tool makes it a 2 second job!! I have attached a pic to show what they look like.

I just did this yesterday, used the red one.

Job is easy if you can get fuel lines off. I found using a bit of plastic tube was best for getting the plastic clips off the filter pipes. Just get a bit of plastic tube that fits neatly over the inlet and outlet pipe of the filter, cut one side so it can be fitted over the pipe, jiggle the fuel pipe on the clip to loosen it, press it towards the filter and over the plastic tube and then pull it off. Easy as that. Clips can be reused.

Even though this is an OLD thread I thought I would post for future reference a quick and dirty way I used to remove the fuel filter (with NO DAMAGE to the high pressure lines) on my VT Equipe and another VT Executive. I bought a fuel line remove kit from super cheap, the tool does the job but if there is no room to push the tool over the steel pipe of most replacement filters, if this is the case for you then you need to take a more "agricultural" approach:

Assuming you have:

1. Discharge the fuel line by pulling the fuel pump fuse and starting the car, it should die after a short time. Turn ignition off and put fuse back in.
2. Jacked up the car and removed the drivers side rear wheel in a safe manor to gain easy access to the fuel filter without the car dropping on your legs, head or body.

Process:
1. Turn fuel filter around a few time while holding the fuel connectors to break/loosen the seal a bit.
2. Get a hack saw with a good blade and cut as close to the body of the filter so you just have the steel line going into each fuel line connector. Should take about 1 minute per side. Watch for leaking fuel.
3. Slip the correct size removal tool over the steel line and push it into the fuel line connector while turning it to engage the locking tangs.
4. Use long nose plies, grab the steel pipe, gently pull it free while holding removal tool in place. Do other connector in same way.
5. Install new filter :)
6. Start car and check all is OK.

The actual process took me less than 5 minutes and i've now done 2 VT's this way.
