Fair enough but I'm amazed anyone would pass it for rego or how they got the engine number changed.
Even back in the late '70's retro fitting engines was a big no, no.
Any one in the know could tell the differences plus there was no pollution gear on a 186.
.
Yeh mate ....this all happened around 1995 or so....bit vague on details.....
I had been on two wheels only for a couple of years.....and needed something
to carry the golf sticks....plus in a new relationship (know what i mean)
so i wanted four wheels. Road worthy for rego change over didn't seem to be
a problem ( in Nth Qld at least)....red motor for red motor swap.....
Later re-sold it to another colleague who resprayed it ...and put a 192 kit in it.
He spent far to much coin on it.....but he enjoyed it....that's all i remember.
Oh it had a premier front end ....and the m21 had replaced the column change..
Nearly forgot ....had a 72 HQ Van.....bought it from a dodgy dealer.........
was 20 y/o.....had to have it...had been converted from 173 / column change
to.....327 / saginaw...same drum brakes....no p/s.....no a/c......
was an absolute beast...no end of trouble....LOUD twin exhaust.....
bad bad bad decision....done my arse getting out of it..........
