It might sound a bit crazy but also check the screws for your fuel filler cap (where it attaches to the body).

After doing everything mentioned above on my old VR it still leaked and after months of elimination I found that it was these screws. Worth a look, could save a lot of hassle.

VR s2 Acclaim/VK IS GONE :(
great write up! can anyone tell me where my VR is leaking from?

Every time i open the boot after heavy rain the boot lid is full of water
(inside the boot where it meets the rear bumper between the tail lights - sort of where the boot lock is)

Ok I am right on each corner of the boot lid that is outside the boot seal area there are holes check that they are still sealed.

On my other boot lid these holes have been plugged up so I assume the water gets in here and then sits at the bottom of the boot were there are another two holes that are also sealed.

So AussieHolden.. if I remove the tape from that, itll drain the water when it gets in?

If you remove the bottom tapes yes the water will drain out. But if the tapes at the top are missing or cracked then that is were the water is getting in either that the tail lights or boot garnish seals are missing or cracked check all that then it shouldn't leak. I don't even know why the holes are there anyway might be from production at the plant.
