How to read the 3 marks on the tensioner?

This is an old thread I know, but if you've just fitted a new belt and it's still in the renewal range, would that mean the tensioner's gone stiff?

Can you tell us if you have 3 same sized idler pulleys?
If so you have the wrong sized belt.

Just looked, the smooth tensioner and the serrated V idlers are small and the same size, the third smooth idler, one just left of the AC pulley is than both. My belt lenth is 2830

At first I also thought the belt sizes were too long, but the previous belt which was slipping was also 2830.

seems ok but is the advice back to front? a loose belt lowers the arrow not up to the marks?

this seems to be back to front or upside down? the large spaced gap should be renew ? the other section for tight or right?
