I've searched for this to no avail, but apologies if it's posted elsewhere.

I am having Brembo's and 355mm DBA T3 4000 355mm rotors fitted to the rear of my Redline on Friday.

My mechanic (brake & steering specialist) said that it's more trouble than it's worth to fit the HSV backing plates which I have purchased. He reckons he will have to replace the rear wheel bearings and that it could run into several hundreds of $ extra just to fit the HSV plates. His suggestion is to modify the standard backing plates to accept the Brembo's. This sounds a little dodgy to me and I am in favour of fitting the HSV plates.

Can anyone who has done this advise what is involved and whether I should get the HSV backing plates fitted or just go with the modified standard backing plate option?

;)

Cheers,

The existing backing plate needs the lip trimmed, that's all.

Also aren't the HSV backing plates to suit the smaller 350mm rotor?

That was my if its too hard option, it would still be nice to fit the HSV ones. ( ok I'm old and fussy)

Yeah they don't fit though! Nobody gets under there, is better for the brakes to breathe... Is only for stones or something nobody can see to notice. Like take a look under the rocker cover or inside tranny bell housing!!

Your right, better cooling without them and you don't really see them. When I put the monster brake kit on my Subaru I removed the rear shields completely.

Yeah me too. But not if it means having my cars rear end half dismantled.

BTW Pir4te why don't they fit?

I don't know for sure, just that the disc is 5mm bigger than the HSV backing plate, not worth the effort. You have both parts to confirm that though.
