HUD is the best - I flick it over to 'G' mode in the twisties for a laugh... That mode also has the Rev light under the G bar which is also great

Anmd then when said other car is from the 70's & the globes in the dash are lucky to be getting even 12V ... :)

Remember when you had to wind the windows. **** as a kid that was hard work!

In the aforementioned 70's car, I do need to retrieve the window switch from the armrest hole it retreats into when, I dunno, the weather's cold or something (shrinkage?).

I bought this phone holder thingamajig and it also doubles as a HUD. I use Sygic Nav and have the reverse screen option so all I do is flip it on when I have to travel somewhere I'm not sure of. Other times I use this Android app (HUDSpeed) which has a reverse mode and shows GPS speed. The holder cost me fourteen bucks on Ebay. You can get pricier ones which also have wireless charging. Here's a pic of mine:
