Got a quote for my VZ wagon from Repair Bull, $370 after discount, incl GST.

Not too sure what a DIY fabric replacement would cost but maybe about 3 metres of proper headlining fabric @ $30/m plus headliner spray glue 2 cans @$30ea so $150 approx. That's about $200 less than the commercial service but of course there might be pitfalls. OTOH spending more for a professional job on an aging car is a questionable use of money.

Interested to know more from anyone who has done DIY replacement.

wagon would be a big job, my sedan was $150 + $80 for pillars at an independent trimmer (who advertised hood linings specifically).

That seems do-able, thanks for the pics.

There's a trimmer here in Canberra who sells the proper headlining fabric. Now I've seen the pics, I can't see why not.

even in the pics you can see all the imperfections, i'm a fussy prick so pro job was the only way - even if it was pretty budget as a job.

Yeah, wasn't perfect but the average joe wouldn't pick it.

Interesting little project but as I mentioned earlier, wouldn't do it again.

If I could get it done for $150 like yours I'd have no hesitation going with the pro. But I didn't think those pics were too bad -- probably wouldn't see the dimpling so much if the headliner is white, like mine.

Hi All,
Has anyone successfully re-glued the ceiling trim back in place without removing it?
That’s like changing the oil without letting the old oil out first.

You have to remove the old stuff. Once it’s out, you’ll see why. Without removing the old stuff, any glue won’t adhere properly.

If you want a ghetto solution, use a blade to cut around fixtures and pull the lining off inside the car. Then get busy with a vacuum cleaner trying to remove the orange schmutz. You will
Have no liner, but it’s not sagging either.

There is a fair bit of wiring attached to the back of the liner, so don’t go shoving pins in to hold it up.
