VE and VF will start prioritising voltage when availability is compromised. It will decide which systems are to be dropped to keep the engine running and conserve voltage. Of course this can deliver the driver a heap of fault codes and the check engine light.

Which just highlights how poor the system is as designed by GM.

If the system takes actions that it knows will cause false DTC’s, such DTC’s should be filtered out since these are generated via the specific actions taken by the system in shutting down modules to conserve power. The only correct DTC would be low system voltage related to the battery and/or alternator.

[edited to add]
Where it suits Holden/GM they remove temp sensors and infer information about the cabling temp as it saved manufacturing dollars but here they take action knowing false DTC’s are going to be raised and many owners will simply go to a dealer to spend unnecessary service dollars boosting the dealers bottom line

Hi Guys, thank you for the input. Sorry for the delay getting back with the results. I replaced the battery which seemed good for a couple of weeks, then the problem returned. So I tried the second piece of advice and had the wiring checked. That was the exact issue. $160 all fixed. I printed the information in your link and took to an Auto Electrician. Thank you kveldulv. Champion!
