most wear is the outer rubber sway bar to strut mounting.
Do you have anything you can show this rubber mounting on a VE? I have replaced my links but never saw a rubber mount.

ve is only the ball joints but i was broadening the info as the earlier style uses the rubber mounts for the links

OK, yeah I was wondering that but then thought maybe I had missed something. I was hoping anyway.

I'll definitely have a better look at the sway bar links. What D bushes do people recommend? Also, I see that the current ones on there are 24mm, but for some reason the repco/sca garage tool says the 24mm doesn't suit my car and I should get 23mm... Any thoughts?

Best to measure your sway bar. There can be a couple of different sizes which is why I measure before ordering D Bushes. Nolethane will be fine so will rubber. I'm going Nolethane as they are cheap and available.

Unbolt your swaybar link at either the top near the strut or bottom on the sway bar . That way you can check the the ball joints on the ends . Had to replace mine , they felt pretty good until I unbolted them and the ball joint was pretty sloppy. Only takes a couple of minutes to remove and replace them .
Hey mate. I finally changed the d bushes to no success stoppin the noise...
In terms of checking the links, do I need to jack the car up and take the wheels off? Or is it enough to turn the wheels to full lock and undoing then?
Also, if I replace the links, would cheapies from eBay be okay (cozza brand)?

McKays are cheap enough and you will need to remove the wheels to replace them.

FWIW I had a knock which turned out to be a loose nut on the sway bar link.
Tightened nut, all quite ever since.

No you don’t. I changed my sway bar links out without jacking the car up, just turn the steering full lock and you can get at them.
