Of course they will, it's standard practice. This is far from over for sure but it's the first step in the right direction on the issue of police brutality!

That someone who killed someone else was convicted of doing it. Doesn't seem a big stretch does it, so the celebrating is probably a bit much...

Unless you introduce race and the history of it not happening that often before. Maybe then some celebration of the right thing happening is justified.

Law enforcement often get their split-second decisions second-guessed after the fact, often by courts and jurys. I wouldn't want to be a cop.
However this was a 9 minute decision, against policy (as testified by the chief of police).

I don't get how people are turning this low life thug into a marta though. Everyone seems to forget he was a drug dealer who stole off and beat pregnant women.

Yes cops shouldn't kill people but let's just forget George was a scum bag......

COPS AREN'T JUDGE, JURY AND EXECUTIONER. That is not how the justice system works. No matter what he has been accused off it is up to the court to doll out the punishment.

It seems you can only focus on what he's been accused off and turn a blind eye to the fact that this is an ongoing trend in police departments around the US. Another black person was shot dead today in the same State.

George Floyd is the death when a good portion of the population said enough is enough.

BTW, it's spelled martyr and I don't think he's that, he's been made a symbol of police brutality, the only people who can be blamed for that are the people who killed him.

So what if Derek really didn't mean to kill him?
The jury thinks he did but his defence will appeal on jury nullification.

That's what manslaughter is.

Fact is, people were telling him to get off his neck because he stopped moving. Either the cop is stupid or simply didn't give a ****. He had 9 minutes and 26 seconds to consider his course of action and he never intended to lift his knee. His justification after the event when in the patrol car made that crystal clear.

This is what they call consequences for your actions, something cops seems to have not had before. Split second decisions are one thing but this was a train wreck in slow motion.
