if it ticks for a few sec then stops after cold start its normal the oil takes a couple sec to build pressure and the lifters that had pressure on them from cam lift have bled out overnight it's the way they work, if they stay ticking for a few mins ect then id look into it, change oil every 5k id recommend

I've used the Nulon Lifter Free, just add and forget and do the next oil change as scheduled. Worked great for me.

i won't worry then my tick goes away in under 5 seconds. Im changing to roughly 5k changes now rather than 10k. Figure when it hits near 5k then buy the oil when its a good price and change it soon after.

I decided to go with 5k changes mainly because of the poxy little filters Holden use. Ford ones are twice the size, go figure

L98 has an 8L sump!! so 5k oil changes get quite expensive lol I do try to keep it to around 7-7.5k or 10 at the outside I bought the nulon addititive so will see how that goes

Wouldn't worry about it if only does it a few seconds on start up...that's very common.

Always good to do 5k oil changes, just buy oil ahead of time when on sale.

Ls motors seem to get tickety around 200-250k mark even less with irregular oil changes.

Yeah it sucks opening second bottle on cars that take 5.5-7.0 litres haha

Should be all good then..just keep up all the oil changes.

If it was constant tick on a dod lifter engine then yeah I'd be concerned.
