Hey Guys

Over the last 4 weeks have noticed a loud squeal comming from the engine bay. the squeal lasts a maximum of 5 minutes (just until car slightly warms up) and then purrs like a kitten. the sound appears to come from just behind the power steering pulley, just wondering if its the pulley, pump or anything else????? It is a new belt, all new pulleys except for the power steering. Am very novice so any advice would be very helpful!!!

new pulleys, does that include the balancer ? Have a side on look at the pulleys and belt and check that all the pulleys are in line and the belt runs straight. If they are all good and it sounds like the PS pump its probably the bearing in the pump. Take the belt off and spin the pump pulley and see if it feels rough.

Another check is to simply spray water (just a squirt!) on the belt whilst it is squealing - if it stops then it is not a bearing but belt slip of some form or other.
