purge hose can be bought from holden or just about any auto shop.
Take the engine cover off and from the front you will see a hose coming off the bottom of the throttle body that heads towards the firewall.
it goes from the bottom of the throttle body to the purge valve at the back of the engine.
its about 20-25cm long with two 90degree bends on the ends.
if you still cant locate it i will take a pic for you but because of the nature of location it wont be a massive help.

Hissing Purge Hoses

These forums are great I've had similar problems ongoing for the better part of almost a year, strapped for funds to complete the big ideas and self fault finding (tension leads accepted - they needed replacing anyway, yeh??) I was going to engage in, thankfully I didn't as I'm an outright novice. I can't understand how a dealership mechanic wouldn't pick this up without thinking dollar signs.

This medium keeps the bastards honest!

Cheers. Out.

List of problems i think are all related to each other

sometimes it wont start, it just cranks over and over and then backfires

it idles really strange somtimes to high sometimes to low and it likes to rev by itself itl be sitting on about 900 then itl rev up to 2000 then drop back down as if youve tapped the accelerator

also i seem to have a high fuel consumption about 400 kms to a tank on adverage

and when i accelerate it hisses let go of the accelrater and just cost it dosent make the noise only when you put your foot down the hiss is slightly there when you are just driving normally aswell but its at its peak when you just start off driving

also the other day went to drive off and the car kangarood as if i was a learner in a manual and stalled, but its an AUTO ! :b:

i have spent lots trying to fix this problem i cant even remember

new coil pack

new plugs ngk

new leads genuine holden

new air filter

new iac valve

holden and a couple other places told me there was vaccume leaks and were fixed but the hiss when i accelerate tells me otherwise

fuel injectors were cleaned

and yeah i cant remember what else at this point in time so somone please help me i love the car but this is sending me insane it dosent appear mechanics that diagnose and fix the problem exist anymore

Yeah DeanoVT is right, I had the same problem with my VT - it was just a matter of putting the hose back on - it had slipped off one end - took about 1 minute to fix. Your motor will run really reach if the vacum hose comes off and it will stall / splutter like you mentioned.

You guys r fantastic, my son noticed the same hissing noise yesterday but i had the stereo up to loud to notice, however taking the kids to school this morning i heard it too. Unfortunately my mate who's a mechanic is away so after just signing up here the other day i jumped on and did a search and straight away found this. I went out and checked the hose and yep it was off, fixed it up and all good now. Thank u so much guys
