Need help figuring out what this part would be called so i can go replace it

So I was under the car yesterday trying to pin point what was buggered with my tailshaft and then I noticed that exposed wide open window I have a feeling it's not ment to be and in order to fix this I need to know what it is and what came off

Do you have an auto?
I beleive its also called a inspection port, hole, whatever the proper name is?

Yup, working for me too now.

I think it's just a little inspection window. Normally there is a little spring steel cover in there. Not the end of the world if it's missing.

You need to replace the rubber donut for the drive shaft. Easy job to do. Not expensive. Easy to do yourself. Get the torque settings right for the bolts.

Inspection cover isn’t a big loss. You could grab one from a wrecker and pop it in yourself.
