- Regal Peackock VF SS-V Redline Wagoon
Just posting pictures of the new car we just bought ...
I'm not kidding, we did actually buy that!
I suspect if you live anywhere around the Camden area, you might have seen it in the dealer. It only had 70km on the clock when we first got in it, so it mustn't have been driven around much since they got it late last year.
Anyhoo, the story goes that we were looking for a wagon of some sort, and even though I'd usually lean towards something more unusual than a Commodore, we've got a VS Berlina we bought off my fastidious uncle 10 years ago, and it's been a surprisingly good car. Thinking around the options for a decent-sized wagon, and particularly something you can pull >2T behind (car trailer), there really aren't many.
However, adding the V8 thing to the Commodore thing suddenly made it more interesting ...
Browsing around the Holden site, we decided we liked the Regal Peacock; a colour the SS V Redline is no longer available in. So when a mate told me that a particular dealer had a pair of demos & one was Regal Peacock, I called & made an appointment for a test-drive (having been ignored in our local dealer the previous weekend - no ~$60k sale for them). Of course, nobody told me quite what had been done to it ...
But they convinced me by showing me another car that'd been de-vinyl'd, and it looked pretty good.
Plus - it's pretty-much new, and is the colour we wanted.
They also don't have the original wheels, which I don't like as much as the 2015 ones; so we're getting the 2015 ones included as well (probably should've asked for SS V wheels, even though the rears are a bit narrower, but I didn't know whether there was anything whacky about the rear hubs or whatever after another dealer told me a probable-fib about the rear "wheel arches being bigger").
Mate-of-a-mate is a gun paint-rectifier to show-car levels, so I'm getting him to give it the once-over after the dealer's fitted all our accessories & removed the vinyl.
So now anxiously waiting for Sunday week ...
