This is an expensive forum to read
Ha..Ha..Quite right "chrisp". I have bought a few things which I didn't know that I ever needed before, but thanks to "Ron Burgundy" to open my eyes.
1. Pollen filter x2.
2. Rivets removing tools plus a box of assorted rivets.
3. Oil filter wrench.
4. Engine oil level stick.
Plus plenty of engine oil and filters for interim oil change.

Is the 74mm 15 flute the right tool to fit ACDelco filters on the VF2?

I bought one of these jaw/gear type ones. If there's a filter that's too small I just wrap a towel or something rubber around it. Fits a bunch of stuff and can just throw it in the tool box.

I've got that exact one. The ones with the round legs don't work the same though.

Was playing with a 79 series land cruiser the other day and it uses a cartridge style filter but you need to use the proper tool (big double hex type cover) and tighten it to 25nm. I just used the tool above with a torque wrench and worked perfectly.

I have this one too. I only use it to remove filter as it scratches and dents filter

Nobody should be using tools to fit filters. Hand tight all the way!

Some people have girly hands though;)
Doesn't matter what you use provided it's done to the correct torque as labelled.

Bought a genuine Toyota one for the missus’s Corolla, it was such a tight fit and jammed up on all corners that requires a light hammer to get off. Work of the devil..
Toyota are pricks, try the Prado. Had to buy the tool with my fag finger's

Received the set of filter wrench this week, those aluminium cups look reasonably well made, from China of course. Inside the box there is a list indicating which wrench for which made of vehicle. In Chinese!!! Guess I will just have to use the "try and error" method instead.
