Hi guys

was just wondering whats going on here? I dont know a whole lot about cars or engines, but is this the inlet manifold gasket thats buggered?

Car is a VT V6 auto, 160.000 km, year 2000. Its seems the car is losing a bit of oil, I just filled it up 3 weeks ago, the oil measuring stick thingy was at "full" now its fallen about half an inch. When we changed the oil the car was still warm though, now its been sitting cold for a day, if that makes a difference in oil level?

cheers :)

I agree with edals. I have the same problem even though I changed mine about 6 months ago.

That's one very badly maintained V6 !!! Suggest you give the engine a good spray with degreaser, wash off carefully with a garden hose, and let it dry before you try and replace the RC gaskets.

the engine looks ok generally I reckon, just those 2 areas at the heads are filthy from the oil leaking.

Was a 1997 vt v6 wagon
That oil leak isn't the cause of your level dropping so quickly.

hmm ok, what could usually be the cause of that?

The car is running fine, no smoke or anything coming from the exhaust.

Well even if its not the issue why its dropping so much, they need replacing so start with them first. The Next common issue is the PCV Valve thats under the top part of the inlet can cause your oil to drop but its usally only after 10,000kms for it to drop.
