Is anybody using the Penrite ProGear 70w-75 in their VF TR6060 manual trans? I've read lots of good reports over the years about it improving the old 1 -2 shift crunch when cold (mostly in VE's), and that's what I'm chasing. Plus improved protection performance, which I know from experience ATF will not do for 70,000km, let alone the recommended 150,000km.

I'm curious to know before I go experimenting though if the product is safe to use long term and will protect all components in the TR6060 boxes fitted to VF's?

Penrite does say it's compatible with Tremec T56 boxes, but the TR6060 was the next generation of M6 box from Tremec and is quite different. Apparently bushes/ synchro's etc differ in the TR6060 which is one of the reasons why Holden's recommendation is to use only Dextron III ATF.

- Any real world experience out there in forum-land?
- What are you experiences with Penrite Pro Gear or other ATF fluid alternatives?
- Anyone tried Penrite's Dextron III compatible Full Synth ATF?
- And how long have you been using an alternative fluid in your TR6060?

Im looking at putting this in my VFII Redline manual as well. I've also read that you should flush the gearbox by running the new 70w-75 in the gear box for 10min then refill with fresh fluid again? With the 6060, Im guessing we dont need to over fill it like the old t56s?

I just make sure box is hot and let drain overnight and then refill

... my VF HSV R8 Clubbie (as other VE/VF manuals) got driven home new from the dealer
and the next weekend, the gearbox ATF got dumped and Penrite added
do NOT overfill like T56, it does not suffer from the noise T56s did)

45,000 kms later the box is sweet (the box was flushed and new penrite added at 25,000 as is my habit)

Would someone mind making a quick how-to on this - a few pic's and torque specs would be greatly appreciated!
