Started on the head removal only to find some stupid 5/8 hex key was needed for 2 bolts. What a dumb idea that is. Just went and got that so I should be able to get the head off tomorrow (buzy at work).

Outside of number 1 & 8 cylinders. They are there for clearance of the exhaust manifold I think.

Another couple of days getting into it. Just a couple of comparison pics from the vapourblasting (more on my website).

I also decided to repaint the metal parts gloss black to offset all the silver now present.

With all my parts back the engine re assembly / pre assembly has begun.

Damn, I read every single post. I'm loving this build, it's not even a build. It's an overhaul. You're re-doing the whole car and it's amazing. I will be following and supporting the rest of the build. :p

Thanks Qorx.

A little more completed today. Heads torqued down. Quite suprised that they are only 82nm (62ft/lb), doesnt seem like a lot but thats what the book says so thats what I did. Also reinstalled the new bronze welch/welsh/frost plugs and refitted the freshly painted sump. I have also re-installed the rocker arms and lifters (not torqued yet).

Hopefully tomorrow I can get some more time to work on the inlet side of things then I can drop that on the bottom end and blam, im almost there.

slept in, felt like sheit today and decided that a little contrast was needed up top. I decided that the bananas needed to be gloss glack so I set to primering and painting them.

I think it looked better as it was as bare metal. Also, if you paint it; Don't you need heat protected paint?

wouldnt imagine so on the inlet manifold (time will tell) and it looks better in the flesh than the pic.
Reason I decided to do it was even though I blasted the intake it was still quite patchy (didnt show in the pics).
Something like this at the end of the day.

------------------

Not a good start to the day though.
Snaped off a bolt in the inlet manifold for the fuel rail. It just bound up and when I went to undo it snap. damn it.
And I have also lost the 4 little gromets that help hold the intake manifold in place while installing the manifold.

ahhhhhhhhhh

yeah it does. wanted it back together today , thems the breaks or is that brakes I can never remember.

Hopefully get my inlet back today with the broken bolt drilled out. While I was waiting I took the dog for a run and come home and assembled everything else that I could, dizzy, valve bodies, oil pump, alternator brackets, front pullys so now it looks like this.
