I've had Rapid's marriage savers on my Auto Redline for about a year after initially fitting their J-Pipes but taking them off as they were way too loud and droned. I was pretty happy with the marriage savers and mine don't drone unlike others in the forum, but I wanted a deeper note but didn't want to spend a lot to do this. So I did some research and talked to the guys at Rapid who suggested replacing the front muffler with an Xpipe that would cost $250 fitted. It was either that or go down a Cat back system with a cost over $1500, so I took a chance and got the Xpipe fitted yesterday.

The difference is amazing, it now has a deep growl when accelerating and I even get pops and crackles on run-on on downshifts. The sound at idle is also nice with a pulsing beat. There's no difference I can hear when I'm cruising, it's just as loud as before and still no drone, but when I give it a bit of a kick it comes to life and sounds awesome.

So the front mufflers have been removed and replaced with a X pipe only?

I would have thought that would have been a lot louder?

Can you pop up,a video? I am in the same boat, having marriage savers but considering a cat back for a deeper note

Yes that's right - the front muffler was replaced with an xpipe, and the rear mufflers were swapped with the marriage savers previously .. I've got a go-pro so I can do a video over the weekend, not sure how good an iphone captures audio.. it's louder for sure when you put your boot in, but normal cruising on a freeway in the cabin is no louder than before.

I would have thought it would be obnoxiously loud?

Effectively removing the from muffler, and having only Marriage savers up back means no mufflers other than the resonators build into the J pipe section of the marriage saver?

Where in sydney are you based mate?? Would love to hear it in real life.

Yes it's a bit louder, not overly so thought. It's also a deeper pulsing sound.

Thanks Dave.

mine's a bit quiet at idle, once it's warmed up and the revs drop

Chance of that video? And is it a wagon?
I have clubsport r8 headers, cats, midsection ( has the X instead of mufflers) manual mufflers with the twin outlets
