You have to remove the two trims either side of the sensor, a screw at the far ends and the rest is clipped in. I can't remember if there are screws holding the sensor in or not but it was not difficult when I did it.

Hi
Take of the vents at end of dash first. 3 screws each end. Then 1 for each trim that sits on top of dash. The screw that holds the top trim on is located behind the end pieces. The top trim then clips in.
The sensor just clips in, but does have a wiring connector.
I've added a photo & circled in red which screw to remove to remove top trim. You have to remove dash end pieces to be able to see this screw first.
Click on photo, will open new window, with enlarged view.
Hope you can understand, & l hope this helps.
Lex

Oh yeah, I forgot about the vents. It's been a while and I couldn't be bothered to go out and have a look.

you may be chasing the wrong fault
the receiver is just that
it receives the signal from the remote fob and sends it to the BCM
it the code is correct the BCM unlocks/locks the doors/boot and disables the theft deterrent
what fault are you trying to diagnose
if you have already diagnosed it to a faulty receiver sorry
they are not coded

you need to get a tech 2 on it and see if the car is seeing the remote signal
and energise door locks
where in vic are you
is the bcm the original to the car
was the remote copied off of a faulty remote or programmed to the key code
did the central locking ever work
does it still have vats enabled in ecu
what car is this
what happens if you push door snib button down, do all doors lock
and if you lift snib button do all doors unlock

okay the picture is a lot clearer now
i would say you are on the right track with the receiver either unplugged or damaged
vats is the security code in the ecu that immobilises car if keyfob signal is incorrect
