Clearly not all dealers have the same info. I just rang Booran in Dandenong and was told that it's not possible to change the screen colour. Quoted $180 for programming and install of the new dash though.

Funny you say that. I purchased my car from Booran.
I was also told it wasn't possible by a different Holden dealer but they looked into it and were able to do it with some re-programing. They also attempted to do the dash but were unsuccessful so I had to go to a place that specialises in instrument clusters to get that done.

Looking a lot better in my opinion.
Now if it was only just as simple to replace those round vents.
Don't know what holden were thinking with those vents on the sports variants.

I'm not sure if you could change the facia. I wasn't a huge fan of the vents first but I've got used to them.
Maybe they got their idea from a Mercedes or Mazda interior at the time of design. I've seen them with similar vents.

You can definitely change the vents (I.E. use the vents from an Omega, Berlina, Calais).

You will need to change a couple of things though.
1) Upper Trim
2) Lower Trim
3) Air vent duct behind the upper trim
4) The silver dash spears..

Based on fleabay prices, you would be looking at around $200 odd dollars to do this.
(The Dash spears would be the hardest part to source)...

That's not all of the bits needed to change over.
Fascia to Climate control
To trims down the side at past the gear stick.

Being mines a manual, I'd have to vinyl wrap the gear stick surround as I doubt there is a fascia for the Climate control that matches the shiny black gear surround.
Way to much effing around to fix this. If the side vents were also round then it wouldn't be so bad.

Saving grace for those vents, this is the only version of the 6 that has the correct number of pedals. :)

Hmm according to that article if you swap an SS-V cluster (280kmh speedo) for a calais/caprice (260kmh speedo) one you'll have an inaccurate speedo at speeds over 120km. Methinks I'll stick with the stock item...

Mmmmmmm, not quite...
If you swap to a Calais cluster, then you will need to get it programmed (ie you won't just be able to swap the eeproms across because the Calais cluster will then lose the triplpe LCD functionality)...
If its reprogrammed, then the speedo max reading will be kept for the Calais cluster, and it will be accurate above speeds of 120.

(I went from a Calais to a hsv cluster, which is 160max to 180 max, and I kept the hsv programming which meant the speedo is accurate, and I gained a couple of the sports features like the gear position in sport mode).

If it wasn't for the difficulty in programming these things via EEPROM, then I would be recommended the triple LCD cluster upgrade to everyone !
