Are you sure? They did one on my SS and stuffed it and then took it over the road without telling me. These days the basic aligners only do Toe adjustments as they see the camber within spec and don't bother adjusting. My SS has a Castor issue from day one. As it is nonadjustable, the aligners cannot fix it pulling to the left. It isn't bad running the pressure at 32 as I just discovered after 45k kms.

i've only had one mechanic in my life that was capable of doing a wheel alignment - let alone tyre fitters. I now only let a suspension specialist touch mine apart from this recall malarkey.

Incorrectly set cambers can cause a left drift....ie, too much camber one side, when compared to the other side....Also offsetting the rear toe can cause a car to go left as well....

Yes, the majority of aligners only know how to tell red from green....The rest is all beyond their intelligence

How many Holden dealers service department are set up to do wheel alignments?
My local dealer(whom I do trust), don't do alignments. They send it out to another local shop(who I also trust) to get done.

Not sure how all dealerships work, but some can do it in house, others have a place, where they can take he car to be done.

Camber and Toe were out, wheel back to straight. Normality restored. Car feels identical to before the recall I assume my vehicle wasn't as bad as some others.

@mpower did Fulcrum indicate what Holden fiddled with during the EPS recall when Fulcrum fixed your steering wheel position and corrected the alignment?

According to statements within the forum, the EPS motor and connecters are replaced but the rack itself is not removed. As such, it shouldn’t have any impact on camber or toe settings... So I’m just curious whether Holden service are as incompetent as we sometimes ascribe.... anecdotal evidence seems to imply yes

Guess that’s why I want public access of the old FORS styles recall notices (that had the detailed technical information of what is actually done) so that we can ensure the lazy gits actually do their job as expected and as required

I thought the steering rod had a spline from memory? I've removved mine previously too when fitting extractors. +5 years ago though..Either way the rack.is old, the motor is new and the steering wheel was way off alignment. They managed to stuff it up somehow? That said, the steering feels great. It's a big improvemnt, as it had become too light over time and had a bid of a dead feel in the centre after +6 years. It's tight in the centre again and nice and firm in normal mode and feels markedly more firm and direct in performance mode. The way it felt when new, only better. I'll be very happy with it after i get it aligned properly.
Yep its splined and it has a plastic piece in the middle of the splined rack shaft to line it up easier with the steering shaft and there is also a groove in the shaft for the locking bolt to sit in too,it can only go in one way.
The steering in mine feels light but im used to it now and like it,i had bulk issues with wheel alignment when i got my wagon, turns out it was because of wheel alignment guys who were useless,i took it to my local ian diffen tyre factory guys and they sorted it out, only place ive been in perth who actually take the time to get it right.

I find my local tyre factory does good alignments too.
Ive been to all the so called top suspension shops in perth and not a single one can do a good alignment from my experience,i think i only paid $60-65 for my last 4 wheel alignment on the wags at ttf maddo,im definitely taking it back there after its been at holden.
