That’s not how you check the correct fluid level in an auto trans as fluid volume is temperature dependant. Doing the finger poke method is ok in a manual transmission but in an auto will result in overfilling the box and risk possible foaming and subsequent damage.When filling up you should put in enough so you can just feel it with the tip of your finger at the top of the filler tube.
