How come everyone on this forum has such high IQ scores ? I thought my 159 was high but as it turns out i'm just average

Also, if the IQ test you did was the Cattell III B test, an adult can only get a maximum IQ of 161. That makes you smarter than Einstein :)

That's the problem here with comparing scores, you can't compare apples with oranges.

May as well compare dyno sheets, if we are going to compare IQ's.

That said, if people are paying $100 for a result, paypal my $50, ill ask you a few questions, and give you a score.
Matter of fact, everyone do it, and you will all be on a fair scale then...

Lol, don't know my iQ. It wouldn't be impressive I know that. However I think outside the box, my fiancé who is way more intelligent then me will come to me for help with "life problems" aka she didn't understand why a train couldn't take a 125degree corner lol.

This is like me, though the tv says I'm 120 something I can't remember what.
I'd fail miserably if tested on memory
Or maths, I failed English at school multiple times, but I can spell, pronounce words correctly read a book right through no problems. And I get by in real world situations fine. But I always seem to miss the easy way out, I guess I just think too much into things. I also learn quickly, IF it's something I'm interested in.

We did it at school in year 9 or 10 I got 140 something. I haven't done an official test, don't see the point of wasting money for someone to tell you how intelligent or stupid you are. I don't think it means much anyway, some of the most intelligent 'book smart' types I have met are severely lacking in common sense.

Everyone talks about common sense, which isn't so common. Common sense is something we all SHOULD have but don't. Common sense can also be attributed to life skills, which a lot of young people don't have. Common sense is usually derived from experience. Common sense tells us to do or not to do certain things because we have a fair idea of the outcome. Someone without life experience will often do something that seems stupid to older people because they don't have the expoerience to reasonably predict the outcome of their actions.

IQ is a measure of a person's ability to problem solve or abstract thinking. The ability to spell or use proper grammar is not the product of a high IQ, just a good memory.

A good example of someone who appears very intelligent is Dr Karl. While obviously he is intelligent, he freely admits he is not that outstanding. He reads a lot and remembers a lot. Gaining knowledge and knowing a lot about how things work etc, isn't necessarily a measure of IQ.

The same as these "tests". They are a measure of IQ against the person who developed them. Or rather, just a measure of a persons ability to think the same way as the person who came up with the problems. Some of the puzzles have more than one correct answer depending on how you think. Most of the puzzles and questions involve a large degree of "logic" as well. Some people can be very intelligent but lack the "logic" to solve puzzles to quantify their intelligence.

The Mensa test cost $40-$60, they do them in group sittings a couple times a year. Yes. I have. Its not a waste either, being a member of Mensa looks good on your resume if you are looking for a 'smart' job.
