The Mercedes also has a price tag, at a guess, at least 3 times that of an AU lol.

I dunno if that warrants basic engineering quality practices. My cheap arsed Commodore was built using them, lol. Seriously, the AU with mouldings and windscreen out looks like a 4 year old fabricated it with a brick.

Lucky man. Most of the cab companies I did work for in the late 90's (Radelaide), stuck with the EF/L until the BA because of the issues they had with the AU. Some even switched over to the VT.

Yeah I guess he got pretty lucky going by what people have said here, he had a trans fail in one of them, and just the usual wear and tear for something with that sort of mileage. The best one he had was an XD which was taken out of service in 1988 with well over 1,000,000kms on it, we used it for another 7 years as a family hack until it rusted away. Couldn't kill that old XD

With too much high and cheese cutters the VR/S arse end looks like a fat lady IMO. Slap on some wide rubber and dunk it to FE2, they look much sexier.

Yeah, you could. Park it anywhere near water. Never saw anything rust so fast.

the TE50 front end looks the best on a AU IMO

Series 2 and 3 both look the same, but the series 1 is butt ugly (more so).
Series 3 is the pick as they went to a 220kw version of the 5lt.
