SSV Redline Auto transmission clunk reverse to drive when cold

Your commodore has a 6L80E 6 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION from memory, not a ZF transmission.
As suspected, it didn't do it when going straight into drive, I would be more inclined to get your dealer to check final drive ( diff ) for excess back lash, and/or tailshaft couplings.

Thanks Conrod I have an xr6 turbo as well which has the ZF box and we were discussing that earlier up the thread...
A bit off topic !
Will suss out if there is any back lash but I'm pretty sure it's a common thing with them, according to the dealer &
Others on this site.
