Hi Everyone,
Last Thursday I was coming home from Bankstown and heard a chime in my car's dashboard I looked at my dash and this come UP IN MIDDLE STABILITY CONTROLLER TURNED ITSELF OFF
I was doing 80 kph when I went to stop my brakes steering all felt like motor had stopped and that's exactly what had occurred.

I have never experienced such a dangerous event in any of my commodore's which shocked me to contact Holden for advice Whilst talking to the service Mechanic asked me have I been having any issues since we checked your voltage and battery under load which I quickly told him that I've been experiencing lots of weird sensor failures told to me from Mechanic at Cronulla Auto Transmission and Auto electrical/Mechanical repairs.

I got these repaired and the oil pressure switch.Had my coolant system flushed and correct Red coolant put in,a new Radiator Cap 140 kpa 20psi from Holden.New Petrol Cap Holden as these all were indicating issues. I'm of the opinion there could be a voltage issue or my ECU is stuffed and I have been advised those can be expensive at $1800.00
In the meantime this car even thought it was purchased from a dealer with Integrity Car care known as RELIANCE EXTENDED WARRANTY. Is a major concern as this business are reviewed with problems with services being done each 6 months or 10,000
Klms even though I have only done a total of 7365 Klms since buying it.

I've now spent a lot of money, got lots fixed without any possible proof it required these fixed as I'm still getting those same messages on my dash X CONTACT DEALER (ONLY) had it serviced and transmission checked out on 24/1/2024 Now I don't know what to do except for Having Fair Trading to check the Dealer for selling this vehicle to me with constant issues all of which started when I had car serviced and this all just started to happen.

What would you look at if this was your ride? I am totally Lost not a mechanic and at my age I don't have any issues with my information provided from this cars previous owner. As he had the car serviced each time it was due, replaced timing belts, ignition coils, all the fluids, fuses, just about everything that made this Calais what it is today.I don't know who or what to do now after so long trying to find the cause of this mess.

I never turned this OFF I don't know

I think I previously commented that you need a specialised diagnostic tech to see what’s happening.

The only thing I can suggest it to email TAT in Melbourne and ask them if they can give one or two workshops that are their members that’s close to where you live. Do t tell them your story. Just ask for a nearby member to you.

Your car is getting to an age where this sort of thing will start to happen and for most garages/workshops they still lack the skills to correctly diagnose faults with evidence based data. That’s exactly what TAT are about. Correct diagnostics methods. Not guesses.

Hi guys, here again to give an update.

I took the VE into a mechanic to attempt a relearn and it was unsuccessful. They've told me that every time they tried to do it with their scan tool it was say device not connected (they also messed with my pedal a bit as well causing ABS and Stability issue very annoying). Is there a simple reason why the scan tool would say device not connected? Is it possibly a compatibility error?

I'm tempted to make another post with just this question to see if it gets more hits/answers?

Thanks alot

Yes there is reasons why.
Not often they are all the same though.
Here are some examples and they illustrate the skills required to sort these issues. It’s not back yard stuff.

One eg:

Thank you again for your quick reply Fu Manchu, you have been helpful.

What a nightmare those videos are going to cause me to have tonight, I hate to think a simple electrical issue could be the end of my commodore. As mentioned before I don't currently own a scan tool, and the technical proficiency needed to diagnose such faults is also something I don't have. But watching them I think it is plausible that the module the Brake light switch (or pedal position sensor) connects too is faulty to some degree. How this started with my Master Cylinder and Brake booster I do not know.

Right now I'm thinking I need to take it in to a Holden Dealer but the value of the car is very much putting me off that idea.

I'll let you know how I go,

Thanks,

Holden generally won’t have those skills. They love parts swapping at a premium.

If you are gettign ESC + ABS errors intermittently its the wheel speed sensors. Effectively a $10 fix plus a bit of labour. The sensors are $19 for a set of 2 on eBay. My ELM327 dongle + softwarte wasnt picking up the error but thankfully I knew someone at a mechanics shop which a SnapOn unit that told me it was the rear left wheel. Saves having to swap sensors around to diagnose what corner / end of the car is going wrong.

Then just jack up the car, remove the wheel & remove the faulty sensor from the hub & replace.

thanks for your input if this shows it's an issue for my Calais I will of course try your sensor replacement in meantime I will add this after I believe the X-CONTACT DEALER ISSUE IN MY VE HAS BEEN DISCOVERED,
I have done a lot of reading about many people have issue's as it's been said these are in dash and auto electrican did explain if your key is RS it will make you car believe it's being stolen which ECU turns off EStability Controller the MIL Engine warning ⚠️ so what I did was replaced the EVAP due to to fuel guage reading Empty and this made me actually follow a few very couple of clever members & owners who's information advised me to obtain a Tech-2 and I still will add "huge thanks " they know exactly why the ECU won't communicate to the Car as it's Immobiliser has basically made vehicle go into limp mode long story short I've got new battery new EVAP new oil pressure sensor new 60 amp fuse and now two new keys.
I'm pleased to report my issue has now been resolved thanks to these legends I'm so grateful for their information which was 100% accurate.
