Hi All,

Over the past 6 months or so I've been noticing more and more haze spots in my clear coat on my VR.

I'm struggling to think of anything environmentally that would have changed.
The car is always garaged, polished every 1-2 years and waxed every 2-3 months. It never gets bird droppings and in the unlikely event it does, they are cleaned straight away and it only ever sits in the sun for an hour or two a month.

The only thing I can think of is I've noticed my tap water at home seems to have a lot of calcium and lime scale (it destroyed a shower head in 2 years from build up), could that cause something like this?

I've attached a picture as example

I can only see most of them under artificial light in the garage etc, but it still bothers me.

Can anyone suggest anything I might be doing wrong or can improve in my cleaning process to stop more of these from popping up.

Cheers

I didn't think that the white from that era had clear coat.

Have you tried a clay bar and polish to see if they can be removed ?

You know I think you might be right.

Yeah a claybar doesn't seem to make a difference unfortunately.

I agree with v.s5.0: weren't these cars direct gloss (DG, ie no clear) out of the factory? Whites and reds anyway.

If that is clear delaminating from the base colour coat, then there is no fix except to re-paint and re-clear it.
I hope for your sake it is only a surface imperfection
Try the sand and buff to see what happens. That will tell you if it's on or under the clear.

any mice/rats in the shed/area? I still use a car cover as you never know whats running around when the lights are out...dont think its the water as most decent car washs should negate/help with our crap water.....Prob just age and years of washing, polishing, acid rain......

Thanks all, I'll look into some light wet sanding.

Worst case I've been considering a closed door respray down the line anyway.
