Strange Smell?

Hi guys,

recently got my 2010 Phantom SSV Ute lowered, windows tinted and a 3" Xforce Catback Exhaust.

i noticed for the first couple of days that i took it for a drive there was a strange smell coming from what seemed to be the front end of the car (bit hard to tell where exactly from as it could be noticed all around). it has now been around 5 days and the smell seems to have disappeared (hopefully problem solved!)

was just wondering what it might have been out of interest and if anyone else has encountered this? i thought it may have been something like the seals or something to do with the new exhaust?

99% new exhaust smell mine took about 2 weeks for the smell to disappear.

yeah new exhaust smell for sure. they may have also used a liquidish flange sealant instead of just a gasket on the flanges which would give off a funny smell the first few times it heats up.

did it smell before tint and lowering, or only after they did it?

Hmm, don't forget the lickable window tint... All the rage with baby carriers....

On a more serious note, "What" sort of smell was it comparable to? (like melting plastic, oil burn, power steering fluid etc) I have found new exhaust system smells generally come from the back end. Some exhaust places are using a type of urathane goo to help seal exhaust joints to prevent small leakes.

There might be a lable left on the exhaust which is burning its way off...

Just had a 2 1/2 xforce cat back done and agree there is a strange smell, I thought it smelt like the clutch have had it for a week now, hopefully it goes away. It only occurred after install.
