Totally normal for a new exhaust, the metal is being heated for the first time after manufacture. Any residue from this process will be burt off, that's what you are smelling. Also any protective oil to displace water during shipment will also be burning off. Sound fine to me at this stage, but as always if pain persist, see a mechanic
