Hi all, recently I’ve been noticing a clunk noise when shifting gears from reverse to drive, a clunk will form from the gearbox. I have a sv6 black edition 2016 ute. I’ve also been noticing a similar type noise while driving at low speeds hearing a clunk/tap when letting go of the accelerator. & then when I hit higher speeds of 60-100km I’ll hear noises something is spinning/ gurgling seemingly under the gearbox. What could this be? I’ve gone to 2 mechanics both have failed to diagnose a noise.

Could be tailshaft. How many km has the car done? I would suggest you take the car to a transmission specialist.

Has the transmission been serviced yet? The maintenance scheduled recommends it be serviced either at 150,000km or 90 months whichever interval occurs first.

It's the tailshaft flange on the gearbox. The flange has to be removed, cleaned up and refitted with Loctite on the splines. There's a Service Bulletin with the full procedure to fix the clunk.

How much would that cost to do? Would a regular mechanic do that?

Yes, most mechanical workshops should be able to do the job.
This is a video of the sound, I’m letting go of the accelerator very quickly on and off to amplify the noise of the clunk
