Hi, is cams and sv6 worth it, or is a tune just the same.

2012.5 SIDI Z Series

Honestly, 2500+ bucks for cams, tune, timing chain, blown up clutch unless i upgrade it - is not worth it aye?
Why don't i just buy an old pre-modded toyota soarer or something if I want 6 cylinder performance.
The sv6 served me very well and it hangs mad slides and has great handling...

I just want a better drive  and its expensive to do  I can afford it but I have better things to spend money on  and it seems as if its not cost efficient to do anything to the sv6

Camaro 241 kW tune is about $500 using an AutoCal, about the same again to tweak the VVT and e85 to something special in NA 6 land.

I must know more!
You can tune the sv6 LFX as a Camaro LFX?
(dont think u can get e85 in the NT?)

Yeah the LFX runs the new “Torque-based” setup per e92 of the EcoTec3, is Delphi not Bosch. I tune my car using EFIlive tune the e38 same way via torque model.
Basically you have programmable VVT cams, no need for cam swap, high compression and high capability direct injectors.
Lookup LFX on camaro5 see what’s cooking, there’s a few loca tuners who will hire out the AutoCal and assist you through the tune transition via internet. About $1000 plus seeing you don’t get flex fuel could do with a CAI.

Worth pointing out that you should get flex tables done anyway especially with that ecu, all you need to take advantage of the main benefits of ethanol (>cooling, >timing, >torque reserves) is 25%-35% ethanol.
View media item 108Get it cheap ($60) in 20 litre drums at Bunnings, does your whole tank at 27%.
You will notice that, your engine, that ECU, Camaro++ tune on ethanol

Haha nah, seriously that’s to stop humans drinking it, won’t kill you or the engine. I do this half a dozen times a year, some remote hardware stores only sell 4 litres so bit of a spectacle in the car park tossing bottles of metho in but pays dividends in my setup at 14:1 CR and VVT.
Complete combustion, more compression (octane) plus much faster burn:

In real terms the biggest killer for your particular engine is carbon, coke and oil quality. By comparison to say using the sulphurous sludge that is 91 or the imported toxic cocktail that is in majority of fuel at the pump, is technically 96% organic matter.
Basically eFlex, e85 or straight metho (is legally sold as 96% ethanol) will clear your passages and help your breathing:
