small correction ...............Rocc
a Bros. which was sold to Marlows in WA and then RDP had to sell it and that's when SCA took up the offer. SCA were already eyeing off sites in SA to move into and the forced sale of Rocca's played right into SCA's hands at the time.
Originally in Victoria Rocca's sites opened up in Epping, Broadmeadow, Hoppers and Dandenong as Marlows which is how it appeared in Perth for many years but in SA they remained as Rocca Bros. as the business had a superb reputation already. The intent though was to slowly erode the Roccas name here in SA and eventually call it Marlows as well as that way their printing costs of catalogues would be eased as it would be Marlows only and not a separate batch with the Rocca's naming all over it.
Anyway that's enough of the Rocca's History Lesson for today.
