new stuffs pretty nice to ride on.
going to get it all set up properly at the bike shop very soon.
and then its going out for its first real ride on the 23rd. should be awesome.
they did suggest going for clip in pedals and shoes in the future, so thats definately on the options cards.

oh yeah, forgot to put up pics of those new items.

next.
looks like ive been dobbed in at work as being involved with bikes.
high chance i could be doing a 75km road ride later this year with the people from work (proper race type of thing)
so that means 2 things.
1) get the endurance up mega time (could mean a new backpack with a camelback set up aswell =P)
and 2) possiblity of getting another bike, being a road bike. or just putting up with the old bike, or getting roadish tyres on the commencal for the event. which im thinking the last may be the more likely option.

and lastly.
on the old ride.
todays efforts. from a nice shard of glass
attachment.php

good thing having about 10 odd spare tubes at home =P
so over actually trying to repair them. so much easier to just put new ones in.

got it back from a service/set up.
its suggested after a short time to get it all done because it means all things have eased in and broken in, like the shifters, forks etc.

suspension is now all set up
nice and bouncy (for lack of better words) so good for going down trails and tracks.
shifters have now been made good. nice and firm, no issues.

the fella in there (who races downhill) must have had a little pedal around to test the set up. said the seat was awesome (woohoo bonus! =P)

and, had a look at another bike.
a cannondale synapse 2013 road bike.
after riding mountian bikes for so long, it is so wierd, narrow bars, how you sit etc.
still mulling it over, but it was nice to ride, and road bikes certainly do get you going fast and easy because they weigh nothing.

and looking more and more forward to the 23rd. finally going to get the orange bike out for some real proper trails.
maybe even mt buller over summer aswell =P

nice wombles =P

Editting this part:
Spoke to the bike shop, they suggested 40t would be way too big, and to get the bike out on the trails before making a decision.

so on the current wishlist.
Slick tyres for the road.
New Pedals, most likely clip ins. and shoes to match. found some that basically look like skate shoes.

kinda like this:

That's a nice bike you have there, you need to get some videos up, of you riding :)
I'm trying to get back into riding, I just put a deposit down on this today One-Twenty 1500 D Specifications | MERIDA Australia I should get it next week, not bad for $1500 brand new.
My brother started riding DH bikes about three years ago and started competing in state races and what not (won a few medals/trophies to). About a year and a half ago he custom built a Intense 951, it's a very nice bike.

thanks Tie.
actually nearly got a Merida before the Giant. but couldnt go past the giants set up, its a bit small but so easy to throw around.
and goodluck to your brother. im pretty sure the guy at the bike shop owns a 951 aswell. not a bad bike at all.
especially like this one: (dont mind the sticker on the chainstay either =P)
pink951.jpg

so anyway a bit of an update.
Spoke to the bike shop, no point going 40t on the commencal, just keep it 36, get onto a few good trails and then decide.
I Am going to be getting a road bike, just waiting on a few things beforehand, but looks like itll be a cannondale synapse. put some clip ins on it and the shoes to match. nothing fancy, just going to use it to get around on, and for fitness, and that up and coming race. and no i wont be in Lycra =P
also took it to the mechanics when asking a few car related questions. they start looking at the brakes and were like "they are bigger then the ones on your car".

recent purchases.
got the Fox shorts. normal shorts on the outside, inner part for the inside (like how they wear for road rides, but slightly different). look and feel so nice.
Ordered and awaiting new pedals for the Giant STP. ordered some more Blackspires for them. Ano Green to match the colour scheme, plus the old Twisted Poly-Carb ones are worn out, and have minimal grip. they did their job.
and awaiting on some spare tubes for the commencal. always good to have some spares. thought about changing to the same valve cap as the Giant, but meh, just means ill have plenty of tubes to choose from =P

hoping to build a bike track (pump track most likely). dont know when, how or where, but if i do pics will certainly be going up.
and thats about it for now.

so minor update.

bought another bike (i swear this is going to be the last one) =P
just a 2013 cannondale synapse for the road ride later in the year.
has the clip in pedals, which i can chuck on the commencal if i ever get serious on it.
and got the clip in shoes.
but no lycra, refusal to wear lycra will stay.
now have 10 odd spare tubes for it aswell. first time riding it had a puncture. what luck...

got new pedals for the STP. Blackspires again but in ano green. very grippy.
old ones had worn out, good ol odyssey twist poly carb ones. they used to glow in the dark as a bonus =P

also bought an EVOC freeride bag in Blue
has the drink inner part. 3L of thirst quenching goodness
evoc-freeride-cc-16l-rucksack.jpg

hoping to go to a local bike sotre next week and get a proper helmet.
probably a troy lee D3. and may start looking at the goggles to go on it.
going to need it if and when i get the commencal up to mt buller for downhill riding.
along with gloves. damned calluses.
