Got a cool email from Jason at Stick This.
He will be doing up a Crewman sticker in the style of Sandman.

If anyone is interested in them, let me know. I have to pay a design fee, which is fare enough, but once created, would be a nice addition for Crewman owners.

I’ll be getting this colour made up. Maybe with light grey instead of the white in the outline.

Not sure who of you it was that suggested this business, but clearly there was a reason why. The range of designs he has is brilliant.

I’ll be getting the HQ Monaro boot lid stripes from him for the hard lid. That’s getting painted satin black and the Monaro stripes will be gloss black. That won’t likely go on this car though. It will go on the Cross8.
Isn't absolutely awesome that he can do custom decals at very reasonable prices.
My order got dispatched today he reckons. (I'll reveal in my build on arrival).

Pretty sure I suggested it for you.

Here’s the door catches I’ve cleaned up and made nicer.

The tray area is tidy. I love the net this way. It’s really handy. I’ve added the tie downs like this because then they can be used. The factory ones just bend.

I redid the carpet and seals on the lid. Got the carpet from CarBuilders.

Any recents on file?
Believe it or not, I have very few photos of this car. Those I do have have the fam in it, so they won’t be posted.

I tend to record the work I do in photos so I can put things back how they were if needed. I might have to do some digging.

I do have photos of converting the rear windows to power windows and I do believe I posted a thread on it.

You’ve seen the thread on modifying the PCV, so this has had that done.

I am also sure I posted some photos on the forum of the spacer install.

I have photos of the engine bay and a video posted in the cooling system air bleed thread.

I will post a how to for removing the tray and the fuel tank.

I’m planning on doing a detailed thread on the fuel pump assembly because I couldn’t find a super detailed one.

Cleaned back the spare wheel and doing Ranex Rust Buster (Phos Acid) on it.

The tow bar on this one is in good condition compared to the one on the Cross8. That one looks mint as now.
I installed this tow bar new way back.

Tomorrow it gets a wash down with detergent and water. Then I will look at painting with epoxy primer and then satin black epoxy. Some perfect weather coming up for it.

Mask up the wheel and get it painted if all goes well.

The fully sic chaser bro....:D

Is all that black crap over the face, the road grime from years sitting underneath the car?

Just a little hint....That tyre fitted, I'd be ditching...It's 13 years old if I read the date code correctly....I'd hate for you to fit it and it delaminate and ruin your beautiful car....;)

It'll also make it easier to paint the rim, as you won't have to worry about masking up the tyre....Just paint over it and then get it taken off and a newie fitted

The tyre is perfect. It’s not cracked anywhere. It still looks new. The rubber is sweet as. The valve never looses air. I have always kept it clean and used used aerospace 303 on it. It’s not very dirty but does have surface rust on the metal. So I polywheeled it and got some surface rust happening. Hit it with rust converter. That makes the metal go black. The back of the wheel is painted black from factory. The underside of the car is cleaned semi often. I don’t mean it’s hosed. I actually clean it all back with a soft brush. So it’s schmicho under there.

The black on the tow bar is powder coating. I poly wheeled the shitty powder coating off and got the underlying rust cleaned up. Then scrubbed it. Got some surface rust happening and hit it with the rust converter. That makes some of the rust go black.

Righto. Roof done. Again.
this time it’s been done as I should have the first time.
I had laid the suede onto the factory liner, which at the time was fine. At the time.

So the whole dropped over time as they do. I have t been able to get to this because it’s been an incinerator out there for weeks and if it hasn’t, I’ve had something happen. Today was 43°C and then the seabreeze wafted in dropping things to a nice 35°

Set up with a tarp down. Catches all the grot. This is the insulation I’ve done with what’s around the garage. It works really well.

Peeled off the old suede and factory liner. Was hoping to salvage the old faux suede. I was deeply let down, in the bin.

In the pst I’ve used a brush. I’ve seen how people use a wire brush. Both ways make a lot of mess. With a nitrile glove I was able to clean off all the schmutz twice as fast with almost no mess.

Vacuumed it up, so easy this way.
This car never had the sunnies holder, rear courtesy lights or visor lights.
(Who ever buys this will just need Calais visors, the wiring is there ready) It had the centre roof light. I made a filler panel.

New fabric laid out over it.

C05D0E5A-5657-4BF8-953C-4E57D1A7F1F8.jpeg

I fold it over and do a half at a time. The reason is you don’t have much risk of it wandering on an angle and then getting to the end and find an oh shhit moment where you dont have coverage.

I do about 30cm at a time. Wear nitrile gloves so you can rub glue off easy. Constantly check your hands because if you’ve got glue on them you’ll be rubbing it into the fabric and fk the whole thing. I have my hand behind the folded over bit and run it side to side gently pressing it down as I move my hand across it. Then check it and then spray the next section. Spray both surfaces. Get the glue to come out stringy by holding it back a bit further.

Also with it folded over, it protects the other side from getting wayward glue on it. Not ideal.

Now it’s all done, fill it over and trim up the sides.

033B489D-CB77-43CE-9001-3115AD1C3C34.jpeg

Then spray the glue around the edges and fold it over. Corners need to be notched out to provide reliefs. Never cut to the edge. Stay well back.

All done. Will install tomorrow arvo. If it’s not raining.

Will cut reliefs into the visor mounts.

I should mention I used one can for this. If you have a ute, there will be heaps left. Hopefully all the beer is gone.
Crewman comes close to a full can. Not much left.
A sedan would need two cans and I recon a wagon would need 3 with some left over. Both cans.

I’ve done lots of these over the years and always use 3M either their 90 or this 76. I learned early on to use 3M. I am aware there are others on the market. This stuff won’t let you down.
