you could also make it worth your while by throwing in a cam at the same time they go hand in hand.i wouldnt look for a new motor just because of lifter noise.and a reco motor will cost alot more than $600 unless you are lucky enough to pick up a recent reco one with reciepts to prove it.

Might not be a lifter either, could be a spun cam bearing for all you know.

ar cheers all, are their performance lifters I can buy? I see a standard set on ebay for about $150... but if i can get upgraded ones for a few bucks more it's probably worth it?

as someone pointed out may as well save up a bit more and whack an upgraded cam in as well, although wouldnt that require upgraded valve springs and upgraded something else??

forgive me, im still learning about the basics :)

You can upgrade to high ratio roller rockers, one of the best mods for the good old 6, i used the yella terra 1.98.1 ones and didnt have any problems over the 3yrs i had them

arr, so roller rockers are lifters!!! i got a quote for that ratio rockers installed for about $800.. sound right?

would this require any other upgrade to prevent damage?

would it be worth upgrading an engine which has done 220,000km?

could be a leaky exhaust at the headers... eliminate that before you go mesing with your engine
