Thanks! I'm a bit concerned about the rings but I guess I won't find out how well I did till she runs. Hopefully I can get a little more support from other vendors during the build.
Even if the motor doesn’t work out, you’ll know exactly what to do to fix it. It won’t be a big deal because you can do it with your eyes shut by now. You had enough headaches with the GTO (Monaro).

Maybe @crew chief @RevNev @07GTS have some feedback about the rings? You have a solid understanding of it all and overall, you have the right outlook on learning and having a go.

@17:43 for the bit where he fits the rings.

I recon he’ll be fine.

VEGTS BUILT BLOWN E85
should be fine the oil ring pieces reused are just for holding it, the compression rings as long as the filed ends are parallel and not sharp edges will be fine, being at the larger side of the recommended clearance will be ok too with the pressures involved its not a leak its more the heat that gets them to butt thats the issue but that is on the safer side

I rewatched one of the first videos from this project.

I noticed the headlights it had were not SS, which have projector low beams.

That got me thinking that you might not need hard to get left hand drive headlights after all. I’m betting that if you got some SS headlights, opened them up, and removed the projector lens, there would be a good chance you could flip the little shield for right hand drive and make it left hand drive. Or you might find that a GTO projector lens fits right in its place.

Highbeam won’t be left or right orientated.

Ozeparts does an excellent, affordable set of new replica SS lights.

Also, your bonnet v wiper cowl dilemma, what about taking it to a panel shop and having the bonnet extended back to suit the GTO cowl?

So both of these issues were solved by the Middle East. There was a shop on eBay Australia called Fair Spares GM, and he has for sale some VZ Commodore headlights in LHD. They aren't projector light, but they are oriented correctly and NOS. As far as the cowl, somebody in Dubai sent me a LHD wiper cowl from a VZ Commodore Sedan. Projectors would be nice, but since I already have a set that will work, I've got to focus my funds of other things.

BTW, the guy you recommended to me in Saudi last year has been a big help too! He got me an automatic shifter boot and shell with two openings for buttons so I can have T/C and PWR in the shifter. He tried really hard to get me a LHD digital climate control box LHD controls, but the junk dealers over there either didn't have them or want to take them out.
