V8 6spd wif MOMO leavaa.
i'm going to have a bias opinion on this and having owned a V6 and now moving to a gen 3- but i love it! never owned a 5litre so i only know what i read and hear about them. heaps of people love them but heaps of ppl love LS1's too. if it was me i'd have then gen 3 (obviously coz i just did it:dance:)

VS stateo 5ltr
do what im planning on doing and chuck an ls1 or ls2 in a vs, they are lighter than a vt-ve and with the same motor it would be quicker lol

GEN3 FTW!!!
Infact my mate is selling one cheap.
HERES THE LINK

As for fuel economy, the guy we bought the engine off originaly bought for an aeroplane project that didnt happen, but it worked out to get about 12litres/100k's running in an aeroplane at 3500-4000 RPM constant.

The 5.0 is a good engine, but i doubt that no amount of money will even make them what a ls1 could be with half as much spent on it. I mean, the 5lt's are getting old and will start needing work done on them to keep them reliable. LS1's arnt too old and put out a great deal more power than a 5.0.

i'd stay with the 5.0.
an engine/gearbox swap into a vs is a big job, mount's for the engine and gearbox are not the same
steering knuckle's need to move for starter motor.
custom header's need to be fabricated.

What are you trying to achieve? What are your aims for this car? Impossible to answer the question without that information.
