The founder and owner of HSV/HRT has died at the age of 64 from Cancer.
Very sad indeed he did a lot for motorsport and the performance vehicle industry.

Out of curiosity, Why will Tom Walkinshaw be missed by the motoring community?

Nothing is going to change, he's basically just been an investor.

Tom Walkinshaw will be missed as much as the great Peter Brock himself. Those who will miss him know just how much he has given to the australian motorsport community, especially HRT. I had the pleasure of meeting him once, and i have never met a man so knowledgable about both the mechanical and business side of both motorsport and cars in general.

he may not have been as good a driver as PB, but it takes alot more than a good driver to make a racecar and a race team. HSV would be nowhere today without him, and cars like the VL group a and W427 would be lost to us all.

The pretenders dont know who is was or what he achieved, but those with passion know that he was one of the biggest contributers to austrlian motorsport and our sport car industry, and will sadly miss him

R.I.P Tom, good luck on the eternal drive
