Have heard that they will be bringing out a turbo v6 to improve economy. Gotta remember that Ford lost a lot of V8 sales when they brought out the inline six turbo motors.

Holden/General Motors need to design/develop a 6 cylinder turbo engine.

Really, all they have is the N/A 6 Cylinder & the 6.2L 8 Cylinder, and only now there "could" be an optional S/C V8.

As of VZ, you had to choose between either the 6 or 8.

Hopefully they have more than 2 engines to choose from!

They are. Weather it ever finds it's way into a Commodore is entirely unknown at the moment.

The cost and logistics of packaging a turbo V6 is exponentially higher than turbo'ing an i6. As for improving economy - compared to what? The current range of SIDI motors are *very* economical and even more so when you take into account the amount of mass they push around. You could argue Ford lost near all it's V8 sales when it dropped the XR8. The Australian Ford I6 is very much a world wide oddity. It's really a shame that FOMOCO mother ship in Dearborne have pretty much made it their mission to nobble Ford Aus at every turn for the last 20 years :(

No Fords biggest mistake was making a 6 turbo that killed the V8 in everyway bar sound.

Holden will never make that same mistake.. V8's (example only) 300kw 550Nm. V6-TT 250kw 450Nm. There will never be a a V6 beating V8 so long as Holden builds V8's. That's not to say they wont make a slick V6.

Go back to the Super6 and V8's. Sources say Holden cut down the power figures because it was more powerful than their V8's of the time.

why is that a mistake?

I'd contend that's more a comment on the V6 than the V8.

The 6 cyl transport & V8 performance mantra is fine by me. Many disagree but meh. As for the super 6 cut down because of the v8. It's bullshit. They did have mules wound up more but several burned to the ground at Langlang. What they had was top of the tree that could also be ADR'ed and warranted.

Because holden needs some healthy V8 competition and ford didn't provide it. Where's their v8's now? where is the Xr8?. More than likely not to be seen again.

A turbo V6 could easily be more powerful than a V8. However Holden wont have it. They would rape its balls castrate it to barely hold a whimper next to their V8.

They didn't cut the power they fudged the power figures.

Ahhhhh this old debate again.

We can't guess at what holden will do. Too many different variables and things that can go wrong. Or right. Or left/up/down.

Your never going to 100% know what a business will do until they do it. So I'm just gonna sit back, and enjoy the ride.

Of course but its a little bit of fun that adds to the excitement of it all.
